The National Education Initiative’s Chairman, Devin Schain, joined us to talk about their upcoming National Education Week event being held in Washington D.C. Schain believes that the Baltimore-D.C.-Virginia corridor are to education what the Silicon Valley is to technology and he is focused on advancing the conversation through his Thought Leadership Summit as the highlight of the week’s events.
Schain launched On Campus Marketing (OCM) as a sophomore at Penn and grew it over the next decade by building endorsed partnerships with more than 1100 colleges and universities. After selling OCM for $18 million he started Educational Direct, an online student loan consolidator. The company quickly became a category leader, growing from start-up to a valuation of $375 million in three years. In 2009 he founded Campus Direct to continue building on his expertise in direct marketing within higher education, this time leveraging technology and the underutilized assets of education partners. In 2012, Schain co-founded ShalomLearning, an online Hebrew school and Access HealthGroup, 24/7/365 access to healthcare through technology.
